The Dental Role in Disaster Response
 
     

Signs and Symptoms of Possible Bioterrorism-Related Illnesses

Healthcare providers should be alert to the illness patterns and diagnostic clues that might signal an unusual infectious disease outbreak due to the intentional release of a biological agent and report these concerns immediately to the proper authorities.

Categories of Health Alert messages:

  • Health Alert conveys the highest level of importance; warrants immediate action or attention.
  • Health Advisory provides important information for a specific incident or situation; may not require immediate action.
  • Health Update provides updated information regarding an incident or situation; unlikely to require immediate action.


Bioterrorism Preparedeness
The New York State Department of Health has developed Rapid Response Cards on issues such as Bioterrorism, Chemical Terrorism and Radiological Terrorism.
