NYSDOH Declares Influenza Prevalent in New York State

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has declared influenza to be prevalent in New York State, thereby triggering the regulatory requirements that health care workers in facilities regulated by NYSDOH either be vaccinated against the flu or wear surgical or procedure masks when in areas where patients are present.  This does not apply to private dental offices, but dentists may encounter this requirement if they work in hospitals or other NYSDOH-regulated facilities.  To read the NYSDOH announcement and summary of its declaration on influenza prevalence, use the first link below.  To read NYSDOH general information on influenza, use the second link below.  (NYSDOH announcement and summary of influenza prevalence in New York State)  (NYSDOH general information on influenza)
