The NYSDA Council on the New Dentist sponsored a scholarship in 2009 open to third and fourth year students at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

Students submitted essays addressing the topic, The Future of Dental Education.

Wayne Stephens, a fourth year student pictured above,
received $1,000 for his entry which has been published in the
January issue of The New York State Dental Journal and is posted below.

Funds for the scholarship were provided through student program grants from the American Dental Association.
