A day full of two great courses!
Course 1: Peri-Implantitis - Diagnosis & Therapeutic Recommendations
Course 2: Critical Considerations for Posterior Immediate Implants

Course 1:
Peri-Implantitis: Diagnosis & Therapeutic Recommendations:
Peri-implant bone loss is a complex, multi-faceted phenomenon that we sometimes struggle to understand and manage.  This course will review types of peri-implant bone loss, possible classification systems and purported solutions, as well as present guidelines on prevention.

Course Goals:

1) Recognize the differences between early and late peri-implant bone loss.
2) Understand the rationales for the various classifications given peri-implant bone loss.
3) Learn the diagnoses and prognoses related to bone loss around implants.
4) Appreciate the critical relationship between the osseous crest, gingival tissues and titanium, as they relate to bone-loss prevention.
5) Observe how a more thorough understanding of these concepts can aid the clinician in achieving better functional and esthetic success.

Course 2:
Critical Considerations for Posterior Immediate Implants:
In attempting to avoid the healing delay of an extraction socket prior to placing a dental implant when indicated, many clinicians either perform or request immediate implant placement, which consists of surgically placing an implant into an extraction socket.
This course will inform the clinician about posterior immediate implant dentistry and cover both the potential benefits and drawbacks of the procedure.

Course Objectives:

1) Recognize when a posterior tooth slated for extraction is a good candidate for immediate implant.
2) Understand the significance of an infected socket as it relates to immediate implant dentistry.
3) Distinguish between primary stability and osseointegration and recognize how the morphologic features of an extraction socket may impact implant success.
