Governor Cuomo has signed into law the paid sick leave benefits bill – A.10153 (Nolan)/S.8091 (Ramos) – that covers employees who either have novel coronavirus (COVID-19) or are quarantined due to it. This version does not mandate paid sick leave for people outside of those affected by COVID-19. It also allows for COVID-19 to qualify as a disability if these other new employee sick leave benefits are exhausted. The law will be coordinated with any federal law (which also passed earlier today) so that double benefits are not collected by employees at the same time.
