NYSDA Advocacy Successful -- Governor Cuomo Announces Dentists Can Reopen Statewide Tomorrow, June 1

The good news we've been waiting for has finally arrived! After intense daily advocacy by NYSDA, including the invaluable participation in a grass-roots campaign by you, our members, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced, at 2:45 this afternoon, the approval of statewide opening of dental offices for regular dental care on June 1, 2020 – that’s tomorrow.

NYS Department of Health will likely issue updated guidelines tomorrow. In the meantime, please follow the CDC, OSHA and ADA current guidelines. More information to come. We recommend reviewing the “Return to Work Guidance” on nysdental.org/returntowork for help implementing your COVID-19 office procedures. It focuses on the short-term management of dental practices as they begin providing non-emergent care.

We are grateful that NYSDA’s advocacy efforts made a direct impact on the Governor’s decision to fully reopen your practices while achieving safety goals supported by both NYSDA and the New York Department of Health.

Thank you very much for your support of NYSDA’s efforts and your involvement. It makes a difference.

Good luck as you get back to assuring the good health of your patients!
