New York State Dental Association Members Recognized for Outstanding Service ​

ALBANY, NY The New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) is proud to announce two of its dedicated members were honored with prestigious awards on August 13, 2021 for their contributions to the Association and to organized dentistry as a whole.

Steven I. Snyder, DDS, of St. James, NY, was presented the 2021 Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his many years of meritorious service and commitment to the Association.

Dr. Snyder, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, practiced dentistry for more than 30 years. He was the managing partner of a successful multi-doctor, multi-office oral surgery practice. During that time and continuing after his retirement from clinical dentistry, Dr. Snyder volunteered his expertise on behalf of the members of the dental profession in almost every capacity available to him at the local, state and national levels. His involvement in organized dentistry has left an indelible mark on the dental profession.

G. Kirk Gleason, DDS, of Clifton Park, NY, was presented the Jarvie-Burkhart Award in recognition of his outstanding service rendered to mankind through the field of dentistry. It is the highest honor bestowed by NYSDA.

Dr. Gleason provided superior treatment in all phases of cosmetic and family dentistry at his private dental practice for 40 years. As the long-time chair of the NYS Dental Foundation, Dr. Gleason has worked tirelessly to build constituencies among stakeholders across the state and improve the oral health of the disadvantaged. He established hygiene scholarships for graduating high school students and developed the Tooth-Keeper Preventive Dentistry program involving more than 1,000 elementary students each year in local schools. Dr. Gleason is not just this year’s recipient of the Jarvie-Burkhart Award, he is the epitome of what it represents.
