New York State Dental Association Partnering with Hudson Valley Community College to Bring Free Dental Services to the Capital Region
Event aims to address the access to dental care issue and link people to dental homes
More than 4,000 patients, most of whom are people with Medicaid dental benefits, have been displaced by the recent closure of dental clinics throughout the Capital Region. The New York State Dental Association (NYSDA), which represents over 11,000 member dentists across the state, is thrilled to be partnering with Hudson Valley Community College, Kare, and the New York State Dental Foundation for the Capital Region Community Dental Event to provide free dental health screenings and services to the Capital Region community who otherwise may not have a “dental home.”
Dental professionals will provide dental screenings, emergent care, x-rays, treatment diagnosis, pain management guidance, extractions as needed, and more. The goal of the event is to increase access to dental care, home health utilization and oral health literacy, while decreasing the use of emergency departments for dental-focused problems.
Dental hygiene and assisting students from Hudson Valley Community College will screen patients at the event, and those who need emergent care will be referred to one of the two Kare Mobile dental vans that will be on site with volunteer NYSDA dentists.
Community members who want to attend this event must schedule an appointment in advance at https://www.nysdental.org/ddp
WHEN: Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: Hudson Valley Community College, 80 Vandenburgh Avenue Troy, NY 12180
