For the Public

The New York State Dental Association believes patient education is key to understanding the connection between oral health and overall health. NYSDA seeks to educate not only dentists, but the patients our members serve, as well.

We offer resources and information for patients to learn more about dental procedures and find a dentist near them. NYSDA's information can help you choose the dentist that is right for you. Additional resources offered by NYSDA help patients feel comfortable and confident while they're at the dentist.

Direct to Consumer Products

If you are a patient impacted by recent direct to consumer (DTC) business closures and no longer have access to customer service, or are considering other DTC dental products or services, we encourage you to visit FindADentist.ada.org to locate and speak to a member dentist in your area.

Oral health and overall health are deeply connected, and the ADA encourages all patients to find a dentist they can visit regularly. Visit MouthHealthy.org/DIYdentistry to learn more about DTC dentistry.

Oral Cancer Awareness

Early oral cancer detection can happen at your dental check up!

You know your dentist is looking for cavities, but you may not realize your dentist can check for cancer at your visit too. Regular visits to your dentist can help you detect such cancers early. The American Cancer Society estimates that people with a new diagnosis of cancers of the mouth and pharynx will exceed 54,000 this year. Learn More >>
