AHRQ Seeks Feedback on Emergency Department Prevention Quality Indicators

Feb 13, 2024
Per the notice below, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is asking for feedback via a survey on its Emergency Department Prevention Quality Indicators, among which are visits for non-traumatic dental conditions.

AHRQ Invites ED PQI Users To Share Feedback

AHRQ invites all users to share their feedback on the beta Emergency Department Prevention Quality Indicators (ED PQI) module through this survey.  The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete and will be used to improve measures, software products, and features.  The ED PQI feedback survey will be open for a limited time until the target number of responses is reached.  The ED PQI module in the v2023 AHRQ Quality Indicators (QI) software includes five area-level measures:

  • PQE 01 Emergency Department (ED) Visits for Non-Traumatic Dental Conditions
  • PQE 02 ED Visits for Chronic Ambulatory Care Sensitive Conditions (ACSC)
  • PQE 03 ED Visits for Acute Ambulatory Care Sensitive Conditions
  • PQE 04 ED Visits for Asthma
  • PQE 05 ED Visits for Back Pain

These indicators provide insight into health system performance and population health by measuring the frequency of ED visits for conditions that could be managed outside the hospital by high-quality, community-based care.  The ED PQI module intends to identify targets for public health services improvement, identify disparities or gaps in care, and indicate the potential impact of interventions to improve health system functioning.  For questions or technical support, contact the AHRQ QI Technical Support Team at: QIsupport@ahrq.hhs.gov.
