New York State COVID-19 Sick Leave Repealed Effective July 31, 2025

Governor Hochul has signed into law, as Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2024, a repeal of New York State's novel coronavirus (COVID-19) paid sick leave law.  However, COVID-19 paid sick leave will continue until July 31, 2025, the date when the repeal takes effect.  A copy of the repeal law is below, which is Part M of the Education, Labor, Housing and Family Assistance (ELFA) Budget Bill.

PART M

       Section 1.  Section 2 of chapter 25 of the laws of 2020, relating to providing requirements for sick leave and the provision of certain employee benefits when such employee is subject to a mandatory or precautionary order of quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19, is amended to read as follows:
        § 2.  This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be deemed repealed July 31, 2025.
