2024 Award Nominations are now OPEN

The New York State Dental Association’s Dr. Mark J. Feldman Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual in recognition of numerous years of meritorious service and commitment to the Association. The criteria to be considered in determining eligibility for the Dr. Mark J. Feldman Distinguished Service Award include:

• contributions to the New York State Dental Association;
• contributions to organized dentistry as a whole;
• the offices and positions held; and/or
• the tenure of the individual’s service

The William Jarvie and Harvey J. Burkhart Award (also referred to as the Jarvie-Burkhart Award) is the highest honor bestowed by the New York State Dental Association and is presented in recognition of great service rendered mankind in the field of dentistry. It may be awarded to an individual dentist, a non-dentist or an organization. To be considered for the Jarvie-Burkhart Award, nominees must have demonstrated advancement in at least one of the following areas:

• promotion of continuing dental education;
• advancement of dental research;
• philanthropic endeavors in the field of dentistry; or
• original contributions to the science and application of dentistry.

Each year, the New York State Dental Association Hallmarks of Excellence Award recognizes outstanding local district programs in the following areas:

• Membership Enhancement: Outreach programs coordinated by component districts that recruit or help retain existing members.
• Education/Community Service: Courses and publications that enhance membership and encourage an exchange of information among members. Programs that put a "public face" on dentistry by providing education and/or services at schools, health fairs, libraries, and other community locations.

Submissions will be received by NYSDA, with a deadline of January 1, 2024, and then sent to the Membership Council for selection. The winners will be recognized at the NYSDA Hour of Delegate in June.
